The first Nissan Cedric, the 30 series, was introduced in April 1960. The Cedric Van, the V30,  went into production shortly after the sedan went on sale.  The Van was based on the Cedric Standard model, and used the same length wheelbase and doors, but is actually longer than the Standard sedan due to the extra length of the Van body behind the rear wheels. Like the sedan, it is also a 6 seater, with two rows of bench seats.

The V30 used the same grille as the sedans, with seven wide horizontal bars and a Cedric Star emblem in the middle. The Van has two horizontal bars inside the rear side windows. The Van had side strips that started at the front of the car and ended half-way along the front door, the door window frames were painted the same colour as the body, and the hubcaps only partially covered the wheels. Taillights were the same as the sedan and extended from the top of the rear guard down to the bumper bar, with a large chrome section at the bottom. They incorporated two separate lenses, at the top was the red stop light section, and under that, separated by a chrome bar, was a combination indicator and reflector. Badges had Cedric on the sides and Nissan on the tail gate.

Initially the V30 series had the 1488cc 71hp OHV 4cyl. G series engine with a 4 speed column change gearbox with synchromesh on 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

In November 1960 the Wagon went into production. The Wagon used the same body as the Van, but was an 8 seater thanks to the addition of a 3rd bench seat in the back, which folded down into the floor when not needed. An additional engine, the 1883cc 95hp OHV 4cyl. H series engine was introduced to the Cedric range at the same time, and this was the engine used in the Wagon, which was designated the WP30. The Wagon model had side strips that went down the full length of the car, with an almost 'Arrow-head" shape at the front. The Wagon did not have the bars inside the rear side windows that the Van had. The Wagon used the same badges and grille as the Van.

The tail gate on both the Van and Wagon is hinged at the bottom and folds down horizontally, the wind-up rear window is electrically operated by a switch on the dashboard, a switch on the inside of the tailgate or by using the key in the tailgate. The spare tyre is stored vertically inside the cargo area on the left side, on the right is the lid of a large box section that contains the tools and jack.

The Van has a Cedric badge on the front guards, and a Nissan one at the back of the car. The Wagon says Cedric Wagon on the side and Nissan Wagon at the back.

The second version of the 30 Series Cedric entered production in September 1961, and went on sale as the 1962 model.  The changes made were primarily cosmetic, most noticable of which was the new grille. The new grille design has 10 thin horizontal bars, the top 6 bars are thinner than the bottom bars, and the bottom bars protrude slightly. The rest of the car remained mostly unchanged.

The Van has a Cedric badge on the front guards, and a Nissan one at the back of the car. The Wagon says Cedric Wagon on the side and Nissan Wagon at the back.

The Van had side strips that started at the front of the car and ended half-way along the front door, and the hubcaps only partially covered the wheels. The wagon model had side strips that went down the full length of the car, with an almost 'Arrow-head" shape at the front, and the hubcaps fully covered the wheels.
